Metrology & Testing

Every part has a number on the release record — not a paragraph.

Optical programs slip when the verification equipment lives in a different building from the one that runs the parts. Our metrology bay sits inside the same facility as the press floor and the SPDT bay, so the measurement that proves the part is the measurement that runs as part of the program — not a re-staging exercise at PPAP.

Equipment

Seven instrument families that cover most polymer-optic verification.

Metrology and testing equipment available on the floor.

Instrument Capability
Phase-shifting interferometer (Zygo Verifire class) Transmitted and reflected wavefront, surface form at 632.8 nm; per-part release records on transmitted-wavefront-controlled programs.
3D coordinate measuring machine (Zeiss O-Inspect class) Contact plus vision dimensional and GD&T inspection; integrated into PPAP submissions for automotive programs.
Surface profilometer (Taylor Hobson Form Talysurf PGI class) Form, roughness, and waviness on rotationally symmetric and modest-freeform surfaces.
MTF bench (Trioptics ImageMaster class) Through-focus and through-field MTF, on-axis and off-axis; functional verification of imaging assemblies.
UV-Vis-NIR spectrophotometer (PerkinElmer Lambda 1050+ class) Transmission and reflection 175–3300 nm; coating spectral verification and substrate transmission curves.
Environmental chambers Thermal cycle −40 °C to +120 °C, humidity exposure (85 °C / 85 % RH), thermal shock.
Stereo and metallurgical microscopes Calibrated reticles for cosmetic and defect inspection per MIL-PRF-13830B.
On uncertainty

We disclose measurement uncertainty where it is defensible — not where it is comfortable.

Equipment-level uncertainty is calibrated against traceable artefacts on the schedule the manufacturer specifies. Program- level uncertainty — the number that actually decides whether a feature is in or out of tolerance — depends on fixturing, sampling, and the operator's procedure as much as on the instrument. We publish the program-level number, not just the catalogue number, and we publish it before first build so the acceptance criteria are real before the first part is run.

Customer-specific test plans & PPAP

Where measurement plugs into the program quality record.

Per-part metrology reports
On transmitted-wavefront, surface-form, or critical-dimension programs every part ships with the relevant measurement on the release record. Customers do not have to ask us to measure — measurement is the gate to release.
Customer-specific test plans
Test plans authored against the customer's drawing and standard, with sampling rate, acceptance criteria, and equipment-uncertainty disclosure spelled out before first build.
Gauge R&R on critical features
Gauge repeatability and reproducibility studies run on the features the customer's quality plan calls out. The result lands in the program quality record alongside the inspection data.
PPAP integration
CMM and interferometer outputs flow into AIAG-aligned PPAP submissions for automotive programs; ISIR, dimensional, and capability studies are produced from the same equipment that runs the routine inspection.

Send the drawing, the acceptance criteria, and the program quality plan.

We will tell you which equipment runs the inspection, what the program-level uncertainty looks like, and how the measurement record reaches the release file.
